Please read the steps below as some instructions have changed. Once a Structure File Number (SFN) is Retired it is subject to State-Auditor and Federal Quality Control Metrics. Following the steps below will ensure a successful and compliant 'Make-Retire' transaction.
I. Work prior to a Make-Retired Request: Ensure that the bridge is out-of-service and no vehicular traffic is driving on any part of the structure. This is important for part-width construction as you may have both the old SFN and the new SFN active at the same time. Remember that Inventory updates and new inspection reports cannot be created for retired SFN's. Ensure the entire inventory is complete and accurate prior to locking the data into history.
II. Make-Retired Request: Fill out this form to request the Active SFN be Retired. If you are replacing the retired SFN with a new SFN then this form can be used to create a new SFN as well. The new SFN will be placed in the Proposed or Inactive status and in order to make it active you must fill out a separate "Make Active" request form. Expect 2-10 business-day response-time. Do not email Kammy directly for Make-Retire requests. Fill out the form below.
III. Work after a Make-Retired SFN: Retired SFN inventory and appraisal data can be accessed in read-only mode in AssetWise through the Collector Module and within the Archived Assets section.
